Analyst Ratings Overview

The Analyst Ratings facility is a powerful tool designed to help you track shifting analyst sentiment. It aggregates analyst upgrades, downgrades, initiations, and price target changes into a single, highly configurable tabular view. This allows you to move beyond static “Buy” or “Sell” labels and actively monitor the momentum of professional analyst research.

You can evaluate analyst actions against your specific portfolios and watchlists, or expand your universe to monitor the broader market, such as the S&P 500 or Nasdaq 100. Applying filters for recency and specific analyst actions then allows you to zero in on the exact rating and price target changes that matter most to you.

The Analyst Ratings table allows you to easily sort and compare data across your selected universe. For example, by sorting the Price to Target (%) column, you can quickly identify which stocks have the highest forecasted percentage gain. This provides a clear, objective view of the difference between a stock’s current price and where analysts project it will be over the next 12 to 18 months.

Additionally, the table tracks the market’s actual reaction to analyst actions. By capturing the exact Price on Date (when the rating was published) and comparing it to the Current Price, the table calculates the forward return and forward change in dollars. This allows you to evaluate the historical accuracy of specific analyst calls and use that data to help inform your own portfolio decisions.

Accessing Analyst Ratings

Analyst Ratings can be accessed under Research Tools in the gray Start Menu on the left side of the screen.

If Analyst Ratings isn’t currently visible in your menu, you can easily add it by customizing your Stock Rover Start Menu. Just click the hamburger icon (☰) in the upper left-hand corner of the Start Menu to access the configuration options.

Note: Stock Rover also provides an Analyst Ratings section within the Dashboard for a convenient, at-a-glance summary of recent records. However, launching Analyst Ratings from the Start Menu provides a comprehensive, full-screen research tool that can display thousands of records simultaneously and be detached into a separate browser window.
