Organizing Portfolios in Folders

You can organize your portfolios into groups. To enable portfolio folder grouping in order to organize your portfolios into folders, go to your user name in the top right corner and in the drop-down menu select the ‘Preferences’ item.

In the window, check the box to enable portfolio folders.

Now all of your portfolios will be in a ‘Default’ folder in the Navigation panel. You can right-click this folder to rename it.

To create more portfolio folders, right-click on the ‘Portfolios’ folder and select ‘Create Folder’ from the drop-down menu. After giving it a name, it will appear under ‘Portfolios’ in the portfolio list panel as well as the Navigation panel.

From here, you can just drag and drop the portfolios into the different folders. You can also drag and drop the folders themselves to rearrange the order.

When you click ‘Portfolios’ in the Navigation panel, you’ll be able to see the summary row for each portfolio, as well as a summary row for each portfolio folder, as shown below.

You can also show all the tickers in the Table for all the portfolios in a folder by right-clicking on a folder and selecting “Show All Stocks”.

Renaming a Portfolio

To rename a portfolio, right-click on the desired portfolio in the Navigation panel and select ‘Rename Portfolio’ from the drop-down menu. You can also click ‘Rename this Portfolio’ in the Portfolio Actions panel to initiate the rename operation.

Copying a Portfolio

To copy a portfolio, right-click on the desired portfolio in the Navigation panel and select ‘Copy Portfolio’ from the drop-down menu. You can also click ‘Copy this Portfolio’ in the Portfolio Actions panel to initiate the copy operation.

When “Copy with history” is checked, the newly copied portfolio is a replica of the original portfolio with full position and transaction history.

If the box is left unchecked, then just the current positions and the basis are brought over. The transaction history is left behind.

Deleting a Portfolio

To delete a portfolio, right-click on the desired portfolio in the Navigation panel and select ‘Delete Portfolio’ from the drop-down menu. You can also click ‘Delete this Portfolio’ in the Portfolio Actions panel to initiate the delete operation. Note that the delete action is permanent.

To delete multiple portfolios, right-click the portfolio folder in the Navigation panel and select ‘Delete Portfolios…’ from the drop-down menu. Note that the delete action is permanent.

Exporting Portfolio

Portfolios can be exported to a .csv file for subsequent import into a spreadsheet program. They can also be exported as a .txt file in Stock Rover Format for future import back into Stock Rover. The .txt file can be shared with other Stock Rover users or used as a backup copy.

To export a a portfolio, right-click on a selected portfolio in the Navigation panel and select ‘Export Portfolio’ from the drop-down menu, or click ‘Export in Stock Rover Format’, or click ‘Export as a CSV File’ in the Portfolio Actions panel.
