A few weeks back we ran a survey to take the pulse on our two membership options and help us map out our future priorities. We were delighted to have had a high level of participation in the survey and we want to thank everyone that took the time to contribute. Your feedback is invaluable to us. Now we’d like to take a moment to share some of the results and respond to what we heard.
According to the survey, among Basic users, the most popular element of Stock Rover are portfolios and watchlists, followed by screening.
Among Premium users, the most popular feature is the Portfolio Analysis facility, followed by Quant (ranked) screening and screening with user defined equations. Following those three features, Trade Planning,Portfolio Rebalancing, and Alerts were about equally popular. We also noted that the Notes facility is only used by relatively small number of users, but to those users, it is a very important feature.
We are pleased to see that Stock Rover is a destination for portfolio analysis and screening because we see these as signature elements of our software. We are also happy to report that we are actively working on a number of enhancements to these facilities to make them even more powerful and easier to use. A variety of improvements will be rolled out throughout 2015 and early 2016.
Interestingly, the Library didn’t get much love on the survey, but we suspect that it may be because it’s not as well known as some of our other features. If you have never used the Library before, check it out: you can import screeners, sample portfolios, watchlists, and more into your account for free! Find it in the Start menu under ‘Browse Library.’
For those of you who took the survey, you may recall that we asked you questions about the pricing of our Premium plan. Responses to these questions illustrated a huge range in pricing preferences. While we don’t have any plans to change our Premium pricing any time soon, we are using this feedback, along with the feedback we received in the open comments section and outside of the survey, to consider a new paid membership option—something that would fall in between our current Basic and Premium plans—sometime down the road.
The open-ended comments section allowed users to give us their wish list items. As usual, we discovered a wide range of wants, the most popular being brokerage integration. Brokerage integration is high on our list too—our first step will be to release an updated portfolio manager within the next few months. There were also several votes for ETF screening, which is also on the roadmap, likely to be released before the end of 2015.
We also received requests for the Piotroski F-Score as a metric, and we are happy to report that it will be available as a Premium metric very soon.
Sometimes what we learn from our surveys is that we haven’t done a good enough job of communicating features that we already have. Here are a few things that people asked for that we already have:
Premium members, we’re thrilled to know that you are getting value from our Portfolio Analysis facility, but we also want to make sure you are aware of all of the portfolio tools at your disposal. Have you explored Trade Planning or Portfolio Rebalancing? These aptly-named features can help you plan and test your trading ideas and rebalance your portfolio. They can be found via the Start menu or by right-clicking a portfolio in the Navigation panel or Table.
Once again, we want to thank you for your feedback. It has led to productive discussions about our roadmap for the short and long term. Based on the survey trends, we believe that many of the new enhancements to Stock Rover that will be released soon are well aligned with your needs.
