More Powerful Actions Menu

We have added a much more powerful and context aware Actions Menu to the table. This new Actions menu makes it very easy to select from a wide variety of useful actions in one place when working with the table. When you are viewing the table in Stock Rover, the actions menu is located on the right side in the table’s blue header stripe as highlighted below.

Table Actions Button

The Actions Menu gives you access to a wide variety of tasks related to the table. For example you can update the views of the table. You can export the table data to a spreadsheet. Or you can save the table as a portfolio or a watchlist. You can print the table. You can group the table by industry, sector, tag or color. You can even create custom metrics to add to the views of the table.

The screenshot below shows the menu with the capabilities described above when a folder is selected under World in the Navigation Panel.

In addition to all this, the action menu also gives you quick access to actions on items you have selected in both the left hand Navigation Panel as well as the ticker selected in the table itself. This aspect of the action menu is context specific. The items in the action menu will change depending on what type of item you have selected in the Navigation Panel and if a ticker is highlighted in the table. Additional actions are added when the item you select in the Navigation Panel is a portfolio, watchlist or a screener or a ticker is highlighted in the table.

The screenshot below shows an example of the menu when a ticker is selected when Quotes is selected. Note the addition of a ticker specific menu for the selected ticker, in this case Apple (AAPL).

This screenshot shows an example of the menu when Portfolios are selected, it displays specific portfolio options. For example, you can create a portfolio, browse the portfolio library, perform risk and return analytics on your portfolio for any period of time, and you can chart your portfolio. You can also create portfolio folders to organize your individual portfolios in whatever manner you like.

Actions Overview

If a specific item is selected in the navigation menu, it will display context aware tasks for the selected item. In the example below the “Bill Gates” portfolio is selected in the navigation menu. From this menu, you can perform a wide variety of actions on the portfolio including updating the portfolio, planning trades, rebalancing the portfolio and looking at the correlation of the components in the portfolio. You can also create alerts for the portfolio. You can copy, rename, delete or export data in the portfolio.

Actions Overview

If a specific ticker is selected in the table, it will also display quick action items related to the ticker, as seen in this example below where “AAPL” is the ticker selected in the table. This same menu will appear when a ticker is selected for watchlists as well as screeners. Some of the cool things you can do here are chart the ticker or add the ticker to the chart as a comparison ticker, trade the ticker in a portfolio or add it to a watchlist. You can also color, tag, comment or add research notes to the ticker. Finally you can create an alert on the ticker or even load the table with its peers.
