This section describes using the Watchlist Management window, where you can organize, chart, and export your watchlists.
Clicking on Watchlists in the vertical Start menu located on the left side of the screen launches the Watchlist Management window.
The Watchlist Management window has three sections. The upper left contains the current list of watchlists. The lower left contains a structured list of quick links for various watchlist functions, including managing watchlists and getting help.
The main window in the right is loaded with the details of the selected watchlist. Here you can update the watchlist and perform various other functions such as charting the watchlist.
Right-clicking a selected watchlist in the Watchlists panel and selecting ‘Copy Watchlist’ from the drop-down menu or clicking ‘Copy this Watchlist’ in the Watchlist Links panel initiates a copy.
Right-clicking a selected watchlist in the Watchlists panel and selecting ‘Delete Watchlist’ from the drop-down menu or clicking ‘Delete this Watchlist’ in the Watchlist Links panel initiates a delete. This action is permanent.
Right-clicking a selected watchlist in the Watchlists panel and selecting ‘Export Watchlist’ from the drop-down menu or clicking ‘Export as a CSV File’ or ‘Export in Stock Rover Format’ in the Watchlist Links panel initiates an export.
The export offers an option to download the watchlist to a csv file, or to a file that is importable into Stock Rover. The export file also displays a readable version of the watchlist, as shown below.
Organizing your watchlist into different folders allows you to group your watchlist into different categories of your choosing. You can create as many folders as you like. For example Growth, Value and Momentum. To enable watchlist folders, go to your user name in the top right corner, and in the drop-down menu select the ‘Preferences’ item.
In the window, check the box to enable watchlist folders.
All your watchlists show in a ‘Default’ folder. Right-clicking this folder exposes a number of configuration options including rename.
Right-clicking on ‘Watchlists’ and selecting ‘Create Folder’ from the drop-down menu creates a new folder.
Dragging and dropping the watchlists into the different folders is supported, in addition dragging and dropping the folders themselves enables you to rearrange folder order.
Clicking on ‘Watchlists’ in the Navigation panel displays a summary of each of the watchlist folder groupings in the Table, as shown below.
Clicking on Chart in the Watchlist panel of the Watchlist Management window switches to the chart layout.
Stock Rover charts the watchlist as if it were a portfolio with an equal dollar weighting for each holding. Additionally, via internal rebalancing, the equal weighting is maintained each day of the period that the watchlist is charted. Below we see a watchlist’s performance charted against the S&P 500 benchmark over a 1-year period.
To learn more about charting please see the Charting Overview.
After charting, to get back to the Watchlist Management window, you can use the Browser back button or click on ‘Watchlists’ in the vertical Start menu located on the left side of the screen on the left.
